Cold water surf company Finisterre invited James to speak at their flagship London store, and to run some "Make Your Own" bodysurfing handplane workshops in store the following day. The event sold out on two consecutive nights.

In October 2015 11x European longboard champion Ben Skinner paddled into some huge waves at the Cribbar on a wooden surfboard commissioned by Surfers Against Sewage to demonstrate the performance possibilities of sustainable materials.

The Global Wave Conference / October 2015

James was invited to speak at The Global Wave Conference, to highlight the low environmental impact of handmade wooden surfboards and how sharing the process of making them in workshop courses hugely increases their longevity.

TEDx Brighton / October 2014

James was invited to talk about his experience of sharing the joy of making at the 2014 TEDx event in Brighton, titled Many Hands, which explored ideas around connectivity, convergence and community.

The National Trust / May 2012

A special surfboard commissioned by the National Trust to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Neptune Coastline Campaign, and built using timber harvested from a storm damaged Cupressus Macrocarpa tree that was felled on their Trelissick Estate, Cornwall.
